My name is Rev Mike O' Sullivan, I have been minister of this church since 2017 and welcome to our website.
The past 12 months have been beyond what any of us could have imagined, all of our lives have been turned upside down, our plans tossed aside like a leaf in the wind, our connections with family and friends taken away. Sadly, many have lost jobs and the security and purpose that goes with that. Our economy has taken a real hit, many businesses haven't opened for just over a year, the cost is beyond financial. Sadly, we have seen many people die, many in hospital, many sick. We have admired the dedication and courage of our frontline workers in the health sector. Those seen and unseen who have cared for our sick and offered comfort to the dying.
It has been hard, it has been beyond hard and yet as a city, as a nation we have rallied, we have done with good grace what was asked of us. Now a year later, we are all tired, all weary, all wanting to know when its going to end? It is now, we must be most vigilant and keep before us our sense of purpose, because the end is in sight. Soon, it will be our turn, the call will come and we will roll up our sleeves and if your like me, grit your teeth, look away and get your jab!
The life of our church has been turned upside down, normal " parish" life has been suspended and everything we thought church was has been turned on its head. like everybody else, we weren't prepared for this, we learnt " on the hoof" as it were. All of a sudden we were doing services on-line without really knowing what we were doing!! Over the past year, we have had the support of so many people and we thank everyone of you.
Take a look at our site, why not join us for a virtual service? Here at this church, we will not tell you how to live your life and we cannot guarantee you a free pass into Heaven but we can offer companionship and acceptance, a place to express you questions and doubts, a community that accepts you whoever you are for whoever you are. That's because that's how every member of the congregation began their journey, by taking those first tentative steps through the door not knowing what to expect! That's why we welcome, that's why we strive to be open and affirming, because we've all been that person.
God bless,
Mike
About the Minister
Ordained : 24th February 2017. I was one of 4 ministers ordained for the denomination that year. My classmates Linda, Roger and Alister are all serving in NI.
I am married to Kay, we have an adult daughter who lives and works in Portugal. Our house is not quite the " empty nest" as we have 2 cats, Tilly and Oscar. I am a passionate sports fan, basically watch anything. I spend a lot of my time frustrated because I'm an Arsenal fan.
To relax, I love nothing better than a good movie. My favourite shows include; the Sopranos, Breaking Bad, House of Cards and Suits. I am currently engrossed in " Line of Duty".
Contact Rev Mike;
Due to the pandemic, I am not in the church during the week, I do broadcast service ( alone ) from the church on Sunday morning. In more normal times, which will return, I can be found in the church office every day, except Monday, which is my day off!
